Lots of updates…
Great News! Andrew’s Make a Wish Trip has been booked! We will be going on a Disney Cruise to the Bahamas September 7th-12th. Andrew also has signed up to Swim with Dolphins and take a tour of a Chocolate Factory. He (and we) are so excited about the trip! We will be on the cruise for his birthday, so it sounds like there may be some extra surprises in store for him. 🙂
We have decided that it would be in Andrew’s best interest to home school him. We have found an amazing online school that will allow him to work at his own pace, and will be flexible based upon his condition(s) as well. They even organize social activities with other home schoolers. We will make sure that he will be able to continue to spend time with his friends from last year too.
We want to thank all of those that donated to help pay for the rest of Andrew’s muscle biopsy test that had to be sent to Baylor. The results were negative, which means that no other diseases/conditions seem to be causing Andrew’s condition. Basically, Mitochondrial Disease is still the likely condition that Andrew is dealing with on a daily basis. Unfortunately, it also didn’t clarify what type of Mito Andrew had, so we will likely need to have him do another genetic test that is currently available. We will update you when we have more information.
We have more great news that we will also need to ask for your prayer support. My current job has been going well, but the insurance coverage wasn’t quite what we expected. Unfortunately, it has a lot of out of pocket expenses. Fortunately, I have a friend that felt compelled to speak with me about an opening at his employer, Monster.com. It happens to be in the same building that I currently work in. The job will be a much higher salary and commission potential, so in the long term we will be able to afford our medical bills on our own. I received the job and start on August 5th…PRAISE GOD! Unfortunately, we will be without insurance for a month, so prayers would be greatly appreciated that everyone will remain healthy during this time. We know that God has everything under control, but are obviously a little nervous about the gap in coverage.
That pretty much sums everything up for now. Thank you so much for your prayers and support. Andrew would not be doing this well if it weren’t for you. We love you!
